Some TM related news:
In an earlier post, I had pasted an announcement from the Global Union of Scientists for Peace (GUSP).
Today, I received some news regarding that announcement:
“A full-page announcement in the International New York Times (formerly the International Herald Tribune) showcased Maharishi’s powerful approach to preventing terrorism and creating permanent world peace. The announcement was circulated to 6.6 million unique readers throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. This announcement was also sent via courier, or hand-delivered, to more than 600 World Leaders in 39 countries and to the representatives of 7 major international organizations. This announcement, together with follow-up interviews in The Huffington Post and on HuffPost Live TV, drew more than 13,000 supportive letters and responses. Some leading representatives of national governments are coming for instruction in TM and to organize groups in their nations. In addition, many leading scientists and representatives of nations have become inspired to join the Global Union of Scientists for Peace (GUSP). (For a list of GUSP Directors, visit the GUSP.org “GUSP Directors” page.)”
The notice I received today also included the following information:
- Last year, 20,000 people in the US learned the Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique from 572 certified TM teachers in 188 different teaching locations. In addition, several thousand more people in the US were taught TM through special programs offered through the David Lynch Foundation
- The David Lynch Foundation (DLF) has now taught TM to over 7,000 school children in San Franciso, it has doubled its program for veterans over the previous year, and continues TM programs for prisoners, the homeless, and individuals with HIV. It also is participating in major new research studies on the benefits of TM. DLF continues to raise funds and global awareness for the Transcendental Meditation program through its high profile, highly successful series of benefit concerts, including, most recently, the “Change Begins Within” concert at Carnegie Hall with headliners Katy Perry, Jerry Seinfeld, and Sting.
